5 tricks to finding a job using an online job aggregator
5 tricks to finding a job using an online job aggregator A job aggregator collates various job postings from multiple sites (sometimes into the hundreds or thousands) in order to provide job seekers with comprehensive and wide-ranging search results. Job aggregators work very much like a search engine, pulling in the top results of job vacancies on the internet. This is incredibly valuable for job seekers as it provides them with access to a multitude of available listings that they may not have found otherwise. Five advantages of using a job aggregator to search for jobs: A job aggregator site collects a variety of online job postings from an assembly of sites, storing these listings in a massive, central database, making these listings conveniently accessible to job seekers Aggregators pull from a wide scope of sites, including postings from employer sites, classified adverts, reputable job boards, job portals, and more Due to the large inclusion of vacancies from all over the web, the job seekerâs search is made significantly easier and less challenging, as they have immediate access to a large database of relevant vacancies, saving them considerable time Aggregators provide listings that the job seeker may not have come across otherwise Aggregatorâs focus solely on job search, and they are able to display job postings by region, sector, date posted, full time vs. part time jobs, jobs that were posted by recruiters and those that were posted by employers, and so forth One of the biggest aggregators is www.zigo.co.za, with a notable number of results that are current, reputable, and where the job seeker can search thousands of jobs quickly and easily. Job seekers can search according to job title, company, or by typing in relevant keywords, as well as according to region. These listings include jobs in the USA, the US as well as in South Africa. Recruiters are able to post job listings on the site, and job seekers are able to upload their CV as well as browse jobs, essentially making it a one-stop shop. The benefits of job aggregator sites are myriad, providing a comprehensive search with all of the relevant bases covered. Aggregator sites are currently being used significantly more than traditional job boards and recruitment agencies (that once led the job search market), specifically due to their convenience, speed and all-inclusive results. *** This is a guest post. 5 tricks to finding a job using an online job aggregator A job aggregator collates various job postings from multiple sites (sometimes into the hundreds or thousands) in order to provide job seekers with comprehensive and wide-ranging search results. Writing a Resume Reference Page - How to Write a Resume Reference Page That Will Help Your Career
Writing a Resume Reference Page - How to Write a Resume Reference Page That Will Help Your CareerA resume is an important part of your overall marketing campaign but in addition to being an effective tool for you to use in the market place you also need to know how to write a resume reference page. Having this document handy is one of the most useful things that you can do in the job hunt because it not only gives the reader a chance to see what you have to offer but it also gives you an opportunity to have a personal conversation with them.Your references page will help you to build your reputation in the market place by allowing you to demonstrate and communicate your capabilities, accomplishments and relevant work history. Because you already have some kind of proof that you are a skilled person that can be depended upon it allows you to provide the reader with just what they are looking for: proof of your ability to meet the needs of the organization that you are seeking employme nt with. It also gives you the opportunity to give them some insight into your personality. While you might not always think of your references page as a personal journal of sorts, it can easily become that once you start working on it. The more actively you write on your reference page the more it will come to represent who you are. Once you get a handle on how to write a resume reference page, you will find yourself able to find the time to focus on the areas of your life that you have the most personal interest in. This can lead to you doing even more when it comes to providing proof of your skills and work history. The best way to begin writing a reference page is to take a little time to look through your job history to identify any and all documents where you have demonstrated your knowledge of the position. Once you have found them start to read the documents carefully and fill in the blanks on the page to make sure that the information you are presenting matches what you have written on the sheet. You also need to be honest about what you might not remember such as whether you were terminated from your job due to 'Personal reasons' or due to the nature of the position. In the very first paragraph of your resumes references page include the contact information of where you live or work. You do not want to have to ask the employer who you are and then wonder if the employer will be able to contact you. Also be sure to include a physical mailing address to ensure that the employer has contact information for you whenever you have a job interview. The next section of your references page should be your name and title. You can put this in the header, but many employers will like to see it placed at the beginning of the document so they know what their hiring process is going to look like. Once you have included your name in the header, you can continue to follow up with the part of the document that makes it all work.In order to focus your attention on each are a of the reference page you can either create a separate section for each section or simply break it down into smaller pieces. First you need to explain what the professional name of the person you are referring to is and then go into detail about what the position entails. Once you have provided that information and the ability to make the reference clear for the reader, it is time to introduce yourself. Finally you can wrap up your references page by summarizing your education and experience. The important thing is to do a good job and it is equally important that you leave nothing out. Remember that your references page is your chance to go into as much detail as possible and in this case it is your job to provide them with everything they need to know.

The Best Side Hustles To Make Some Extra Cash
The Best Side Hustles To Make Some Extra Cash Wed all like a little bit more cash â" for a great night out, some new clothes, a relaxing holiday in the sun, or to save up for a long term goal like buying your very first home. But it can be so tedious trying to save money even though theres plenty of advice on how to do it, the reality is tough. Instead, why not just try and make more money? It may be harder work than saving but its definitely a lot more fun. You might even find you have hidden talents and discover a whole new career path, you never know⦠Most spending is, of course, restricted by the money you have coming in from your regular job vs the money you have going out on rent, food, bills etc. Many of us have only just enough coming in each month to pay off the outgoings â" were the JAMs (Just About Managing). So, the chances of saving some cash each month for those treats and extras were yearning for are pretty low. But, if youre anything like me, you dont want to max out your credit card or borrow money on a loan although I have to admit I do sometimes ask my parents to help out financially but I dont consider that a loan (not really). So if this sounds like you too, how do you go about getting more money coming in so that you can have those luxuries without accruing more debt? The answer is a side hustle â" that extra job on the side that is now so easy to do thanks to the gig economy and sites like Freelancer and Upwork. So next time youre thinking you need a secured loan or a higher credit card limit, stop and think again. Side Hustles There is plenty of choice when it comes to side hustles so theres bound to be something to suit everyone. From the creative types who can design logos or make videos, to the techy types who can create a website or fix a broken PC, to virtual PA services or managing someones social media accounts (yes, thats really a job) Here are just some of my favourite side hustle ideas to help inspire you to swell your coffers each month: Website Administrator Do you know your Joomla from your WordPress or your Javascript from your HTML? There are plenty of small companies who dont need a full-time (or even part-time) website administrator but they still need help with their website from time to time. And as you probably already know if you have these skills it pays very well too â" check out one of the freelancer sites if this appeals to you and work on one-off projects when you have some spare time. Sell Stuff Online Lets face it we all have far too much stuff in our lives so you could probably make a decent amount of extra cash just selling your own stuff online. All of those tacky ornaments, clothes that dont fit anymore, kitchen gadgets that you never use and dont even like could be the source of hard cash. So get selling on eBay â" its fast and easy and if you love garage sales why not buy up other peoples stuff and sell that on eBay too â" for a profit, of course. Rent Out a Spare Room If you live in a major city or in a tourist area and have a spare room then there is some serious cash to be made by renting out that room or even your whole home for short periods, especially if you have friends or family you can stay with for a week or two. Take a look at HolidayLettings or AirBnB to see the sort of places on offer in your area and see if your room or home could match up. The money you earn could help cover your monthly home loan repayments for a month or even more. Create an e-Book I believe we all have an book in us somewhere and they are the perfect way to make a steady stream of passive income for long after the initial effort of writing the book has been forgotten. Consider the skills you already have â" it could be cooking in which case you could write a recipe book, maybe you have young children and have tips on bringing up children â" you might not even have children but still think you can offer parenting advice! You might have gardening, DIY or interior design skills that you can write up in an e-book. The list is endless just think about what you enjoy doing and gather all those thoughts together with some great photos and youve already got the makings of an e-book that will cost nothing to publish. Become a Blogger If you have views and opinions that others might be interested in why not become a blogger to help increase your monthly income. You dont have to be a famous blogger making money from major brands sponsoring your posts â" that is a hard market to break into. But you can write for the myriad companies that need your content and dont have the skills, time or inclination to get it done in-house. Again you can find clients on freelancer sites. Be a Social Media Manager Yes you really can get paid to manage a companys social media accounts. If you are used to spending a large proportion of your day on social media you might find it hard to believe that not everyone else wants to do the same, but there are plenty of small companies eager for your social media skills. It could take you just an hour a day and really boost your income (and your time management skills). These are just a few of the ways you can get some extra money coming in to avoid borrowing or racking up that credit card debt. Many are easy to fit in around your other commitments so check out sites likes Freelancer or Upwork to find side hustles to suit you â" before you know it you could reaping the rewards of a little extra effort each month. This post was authored by Amanda Gillam: Amanda Gillam is a blogger and copywriter for a number of websites including the Solution Money Blog where she writes about the fast-paced changes experienced by Millennials in their lives, careers and personal finances.

Human Resource Resume Objectives - Effective Methods
Human Resource Resume Objectives - Effective MethodsHaving human resource resume objectives to guide you and explain your desired responsibilities and job functions is a good thing. It is a great way to help future employees understand what they are supposed to do, how they will be rewarded for their efforts, and when they should expect to hear from the employer. However, as mentioned above, it is only one of the components that go into your objective. In order to make it useful and impactful, you should include other things as well. Two other factors you should include in your objectives are the organization and department where you will be working, and your skill set and expertise. When you write your human resource resume objectives, be sure to include both the title and the description of what you want to accomplish. For example, 'Motivated and goal-oriented' can describe two separate objectives. Just make sure to give yourself enough wiggle room so that you do not overstate what y ou need to do.Next, you will need to include the training you received on a specific job. If you have worked with humans, then you will have to include the training on the job. For example, if you worked as a computer support technician, then you should include training on how to troubleshoot computers and how to contact technical support for one company. Make sure you spell out exactly what you learned on the job to avoid any ambiguity in the resume. The last thing you need to include is how your skills and knowledge will be beneficial to your prospective employer. You should include specific examples of jobs that you may perform during your employment that relate to the descriptions of the skills and knowledge you included in your objectives. For example, if you have a background in marketing and management, then you will want to mention examples of jobs that are related to these areas of expertise. For example, you could mention a job as a project manager that requires you to work with a client to develop a marketing campaign. The best way to apply this to your objectives is to create a list of examples of jobs that are related to your specific skills and knowledge that you would like to work on while you are in the company. Try to incorporate several examples of these jobs in your resume objectives to make sure that employers will take notice. The other thing you can include in your human resource resume objectives is the amount of training or experience you have. This can help demonstrate your abilities as an employee. By including a picture of yourself with experience under your belt, employers will know you have had relevant training.Follow these steps and you will find that your resume objectives will work in your favor. You will be able to get the attention of a hiring manager and you will not forget how to promote yourself in the job market. It is an important component of the overall resume, and it should be written properly to communicate exactly what you are looking for.

4 ways to practice self-care without breaking the bank - Debut
4 ways to practice self-care without breaking the bank - Debut This article was written by an external contributor. Chloe Smith is on hand to help you manage self-care on a budget. We all know that university is super stressful, and one of the best ways I know to combat stress is good old self-care. Itâs true that self-care is different for everyone, were all individuals after all. However, there seems to be a misconception that it means spending money on luxury items such as expensive bath products, new clothes or some other miracle item. If youre a student however, splashing cash on all of the above can in fact increase stress, rather than alleviate it. So, if youâre looking for simple and cheap ways practice self-care, we may have the answers Meditate Meditation can help increase your focus and memory, and also reduce anxiety and stress levels. The popular Headspace app is the perfect place to start meditating, as you can do it right from the comfort of your own dorm. Meditation is also a great way to avoid/reduce burnout, a common thing among students and graduates. Heres a hack that you may not know; Students who sign up to Spotify Premium (or already have it) can get three whole months free to enjoy the Headspace app and all its resources. But if youâd rather a completely free option, there are other meditation apps available to help you achieve the same self-care goals. Budget Whats a sure-fire way to make sure that you practice self-care without spending too much? Budget, budget, budget. Actively put aside an allotted amount per month to go towards your self-care, and that way youll be sure to spend it and prioritise your mental health, whilst not going overboard on Jo Malone candles. Budgeting in general throughout your university life and beyond is also a simple way to help avoid stress about your finances. So get into a habit of keeping track of your spends, whether its through a log book, or investing in a debit card such as Monzo etc. Music Studies have shown that music can help reduce anxiety, as well as other things. So the perfect way to practice self-care without spending a penny is to put on your favourite feel-good playlist! That way you can listen to it anywhere; on your commute into campus, on your lunch break, or even in your flat whilst you have a little song and dance to yourself (we may be guilty of the latter). If you have the time to do so, taking up a musical instrument is also another musical option! It doesnt matter what skill youre at, learning something new thats purely for your enjoyment can keep you grounded, and give you a little respite from studying. Me time Having some time for yourself is the key to self-care at university. Though it can be easy to get caught up in studying and other commitments, some down-time doing your favourite things can really help you. Plus, it can all be cheap, or even free! For example, you can do some exercise such as yoga, or even just take a quick walk outdoors. You can have a chat and a cuppa with your loved ones, or a drink if you fancy. Even just having a read of your favourite book, or chilling out over a film can give you time to relax and recuperate, without buying anything that will cripple your bank account. Career Change Can Be A Good Thing
Career Change Can Be A Good Thing Whats your reaction when you hear, things are going to change? Do you feel fear and anxiety? Or do you get a sense of excitement and optimism? For many, change is viewed with concern and worry. What will I lose? is often the first thought. And yes, change does lead to some loss. I should know. I lost my first job due to a massive change in the accounting industry when my employer Arthur Andersen went under with the Enron debacle. In the media at the time, we heard all about the loss how 80,000 people in 90 countries lost their jobs and how the faith in one firm was lost forever. There is another part to the story however that you didnt hear -how much was gained through this change. For me, the end of Andersen forced me to deal with a career I wasnt happy with. It was a turning point for me, one that led me to the career coaching and radio hosting that I do (and love) today. And Im not alone in this experience. Many of my Andersen colleagues have changed careers. Its not just Anderse n either. Ive been working with a corporate client recently who wants their people to see the opportunities in an upcoming merger. Over the last few months Ive been coaching each team member to see how this change could be a blessing in disguise. Yes, its still a challenge to say goodbye to each other yet at the same time, its exciting to explore new career paths and opportunities both within and outside the merged company. Change is the one constant we can count on in our careers. The key is not to fear change but to leverage it to move your career forward. Tomorrow, Ill be speaking to a group of Columbia University alumns about How to Successfully Navigate Corporate Change. If youre in that group, sign up here!Ill also be sharing tips and ideas on leveraging change on my radio show Making a Living with Maggie today at 4pm EST/1pm PST on SIRIUS 112/XM 157. Call in at 866-675-6675 and share your reactions to change and what concerns, fears are holding you back from moving forward. S hare your comments and career change successes here too. I welcome your input and know that whatever change comes along together we can handle it!(Photo courtesy of Flickr)

Five Tips for Personal Brand Creation and Maintenance
Five Tips for Personal Brand Creation and Maintenance So youâve learned the importance of a personal brand and have made the decision to start working on your ownâ¦but whatâs next? This is a very common question that has been asked by several senior level professionals just like you. As it turns out, building a personal brand is hard, but it can very much be done! Hereâs how. 1. Think About Yourself Every employee, and especially every senior level professional, has something significant to offer a company. You will have to tap into just what your skills and positive personal traits are before you begin crafting your personal brand. In fact, this is the first step of c-level personal branding. It may help to approach this issue from the perspective of an employer and figure out what traits are most desirable in any employee, then work backwards to hash out what makes you unique from every other applicant out there. Craft a story about yourself for your hiring audience to read. 2. Start Pruning Your Presence Online While no one will admit to Googling themselves, it will actually help you figure out one of the most important parts of branding yourselfâ"your name. Keep track of how youâre mentioned online and whether itâs in a negative or positive context. 3. Be Mindful of Your Internet Activities Now that you have an idea of how youâre perceived online, youâll have to make sure to keep these perceptions under control. Donât post anything you wouldnât want potential employers to find later on. If youâve already engaged in online activities that you wouldnât necessarily want employers to discover, you will generally have the option to delete themâ"but be careful! You can never completely erase something from the Internet once itâs there. In the meantime, you can do any necessary damage control by carefully considering what you post and only letting pictures and other forms of media slip through if they contribute to your efforts toward personal branding for senior level managers. 4. Build a Website Thanks to the advancement of the Internet, building a website is easier than ever! âWhy do I need one?â you may ask. For starters, so many business interactions now take place onlinefrom consumers to businesses to potential employees and those in charge of hiring them. A website is a wonderful way of presenting yourself to the world in a quick and aesthetically pleasing manner. Donât think you have to go big and flashy! Just a paragraph about yourself, contact links and a well written resume will do. 5. Look to Older, More Successful Brands You can find other people whoâve built personal brands by connecting with those who are in either the same industry or are alumni from your alma mater. Connect with these people as soon as possible for tips on how to better construct your personal brand. If you play your cards right, these new associates should prove valuable! On our site, youâll find information about building a personal brand, writing an effective resume and much more! Once you learn a little more about yourself, you may choose to get some additional help to push your executive job search to the next level!
